The land, located in a sand belt, perfectly suited for the type of golf course the owners wanted to build. Late that fall, with course designer Rod Whitman, they walked the land and started to develop some ideas for what was to become “A Legend”.

A fixture for 13 years on the Canadian Tour, Wolf Creek hosted the Alberta Open, receiving world wide publicity and exposure as one of the world’s best courses by young touring professionals

LOCAL MEMBER WINS MCLENNAN ROSS TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2014 season for the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour came to a thrilling conclusion today at Wolf Creek Golf Resort with the 19th annual Tour Championship.  A total of 112 juniors from across the province was on hand to test the always difficult greens and swirling winds of "The Wolf".

Jared Nicolls of Wolf Creek had an incredible finish, making a hole-in-one on his 16th hole of the day to pull into a tie with pre-tournament favorite and defending Tour Champion AJ Armstrong of Royal Mayfair GCC, and then capping his round by making a 65-foot bomb for birdie on his last hole , the notoriously difficult 9th hole on the West 9 at Wolf Creek. Nicolls' 1-under par 69 edged Armstrong's even-par 70 by a single shot.

In the Junior Girls' division, defending Tour Champion Kenna Hughes of Willow Park in Calgary fired a 78 to hold off 2012 Tour Champion and current Alberta Golf Junior AND Ladies' Champion Jaclyn Lee of Glencoe, and 13-year-old Annabelle Ackroyd of Silver Springs, also by a single stroke.

Of course, like many Albertans, my favorite when it comes to local inland links is the one and only Wolf Creek. The shaping on both courses is absolutely stunning.
